The prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award (Assamese) for the year 2015 was won by Kula Saikia who had won the Munin Barkotoki Award for the year 1998 and the Katha Award in the year 2000. [In the photo he is seen receiving the Akademi award from the then President of the Sahitya Akademi Biswanath Prasad Tiwari.] Kula Saikia was also elected President of Asam Sahitya Sabha in January 2020.
